So there’s a big buzz in the wedding world right now. Everyone who’s anyone is talking about The Wedding Gallery, the world’s first luxury destination for retail and inspiration. Opening in October 2017, you’ll be able to find The Wedding Gallery in London’s iconic One Marylebone. Once you arrive, you’ll step into another world of wedding wonder. It’s fair to say that we’ve been in love with the concept for a while now. So, when we heard that bridal fashion is an all-important element of The Wedding Gallery, we needed to find out more. We spoke to one of the curators, Anna McGregor, to find out more…
Tell us the story behind The Wedding Gallery?
The process of planning a wedding can be daunting, and in reality then both time consuming and overwhelming. The Wedding Gallery is a one stop shop, providing an expert led introduction to a carefully curated section of brands and partners for everything from engagement rings to honeymoons, bridal dresses to menswear, venues to flowers to cakes and all and everything in between. It will take away the stresses often associated with planning a wedding as well as open so many doors to new and exciting possibilities.
What were the inspirations behind this concept?
Wedding planning should be fun, exciting and should feel like a luxury experience. Couples will be made to feel welcome in The Gallery from the first moment they contact us. They’ll receive plenty of kind, reliable and useful information to allow them to get the very best out of their experience with us. On arrival all expert-led appointments will begin with a glass of Champagne and end with a personalised hard copy Edit. This details their experience and provides information on all of the brands and services they have been introduced to.
Why do you think this is the modern way couples would like to shop?
The Wedding Gallery will give couples access to a carefully selected list of brands and experiences and our experts will tailor the experience just for them. A couple may need help with the whole wedding, or may come in just for fashion, gifts or to find the perfect cake maker. They can pick and choose the services they use with confidence because they are being introduced to the very best. Add the expert, personal service to the convenience of having everything under one roof and the experience for the modern, often time poor, couple will revolutionise the wedding planning. Obviously we are very excited to learn there will be a Fashion department! Are you able to confirm which designers will host their collection here?
The designers we have already confirmed include Elie Saab, Sassi Holford, Alice Temperley, Charlie Bear, Bo and Luca, Suzie Turner, Amanda Wakely, J’Aton and Needle and Thread. There’s also Brides do Good who hold the most beautiful and ever-changing collection of pre-loved and designer samples. Their range includes fabulous brands including Marchessa and Philippa Lepley. The gorgeous images in this feature are from Needle & Thread’s latest collection.
Why do you feel these brand names will work for The Wedding Gallery?
The Wedding Gallery bride will love fashion as well as classic elegance. We want a selection of brands for the modern bride who wants to reflect her personality through her dress choice. Our designers include gowns across various price points so we’ll be able to find a dress for every bride.
Will brides need to make appointments to come in and see a bridal stylist? Or will they just be able to pop by and browse?
The Wedding Gallery is a by appointment only department store. This ensures that the couple get expert advice from a stylist or planner who will understand their vision and guide them to create their dream wedding. After all initial appointments the couple become members of The Gallery. This allows them to come back and use our services as many times as they like during their engagement. They can even visit after the big day for assistance with honeymoons, honeymoon styling, and even expert dry cleaning!
What will their experience be like when they visit The Wedding Gallery?
The team at The Wedding Gallery are highly trained to make the bride and groom feel relaxed and understood. On arrival the guests will meet their stylist or planner, be offered a glass of Champagne or a soft drink. Once everyone’s comfortable, they’ll be introduced to the services available within The Gallery. The appointment will be customised for each guest. So an initial appointment with a planner may involve a lot of venue research or budget guidance. Or it may be that a couple has already chosen a venue and now wants to focus on finding an amazing photographer or the perfect band.
In the fashion departments, stylists will help pick dresses and customers can try them on, along with shoes, accessories and veils. Brides can also receive advice on the right underwear too. All alterations can be managed by the in house team so the experience is seamless. Follow up with customers will come directly from their stylist or planner. This means they can build a personal and trusting relationship throughout their experience as a member of The Wedding Gallery.
Lastly, please let us know of other delights we might find at The Wedding Gallery?
I don’t know where to start! The amount of information, knowledge and the comprehensive nature of every department is what wedding planning dreams are made of! I wouldn’t want to say that we have thought of everything, but it may just be that we have!
