New York Bridal Week takes place each year. This year we just had to be there!. Setting the new bridal trends for 2018 Designers pull out all the stops to impress. We send the very beautiful Annika from Netherlands renowned Bridal Boutique Wild at Heart to report on our behalf with talented photographer Marilyn Bartman.
Looks like these girls has a blast! Here’s the detail …..
Talk to us about NYBW what was the vibe like ?
Annika – The vibe was great! This year I decided to not visit to many new brands but in stead visit mostly my own brands and some new ones that I was really interested in. Bridal Week is alway hectic but everyone is just so nice and so happy to see you that I had just such a good time. It is great to meet with the designers but also to hang out with other store owners.
Which designers did you visit ?
Rime Arodaky, Houghton, Rebecca Schoneveld, Anaïs Anette, Truvelle, Charlie Brear, Marchesa, Laure de Sagazan, Alexandra Grecco, Limor Rosen, Daughters Of Simone, & For Love, Made With Love Bridal, One Day Bridal and Karen Willis Holmes.
Talk to us about the new trends for 2018 ?
Pearls! They where everywhere. I already saw them in the new Rue de Seine collection but now also at Daughters Of Simone and Alexandra Grecco. I never thought I would find a way to actually like pearls but these designers found great ways to make them look modern, cool and classy.
3D embroidery is definitely here to stay. We saw it at Alexandra Grecco who is a master at it and at Marchesa.
Ruffles and/or layered skirts. We saw this earlier at Bo & Luca, but now also at Alexandra Grecco and of course Rime Arodaky who definitely made a statement with ruffles this season!
Mix & Match. My favorite trend of all! It allows you as a bride to create a unique look using layers, separates, skirts, dresses, overcoats, pants, etc. We saw this at Rime Arodaky, Charlie Brear, Anaïs Anette, Alexandra Grecco and Laure de Sagazan.
Statement sleeves. Whether you choose a fitted long sleeve, a bell sleeve or floor length flowy sleeves, just please pick something with a sleeve as they come in all shapes and sizes this season and we are big fans! Especially if you are from the Netherlands because it basically is really cold here 90% of the time.
Who’s collection did you lust over the most and why?
Where to start? I think Alexandra Grecco’s new collection might have been her best one yet! Her floral embroidery, minimal and romantic styles where just out of the world.
And I feel like Rime Arodaky just brings it every year! Her style is so unique, so cool, so out there! And I feel like she really embodies everything a bride is looking for in all her designs.
If you were to pick three designers collection to pack in your suitcase to bring home to your boutique, which ones would they be and why?
Alexandra Grecco – her collection was a fairytale come true and I think every bride would just love it!. Anaïs Anette – they created a feminine, sexy and timeless collection at such a good price point! I think brides will go crazy for these pieces!.Rime Arodaky – Because she just does it every time and makes me want to wear things I never thought I would like. That is a quality like no other. She makes me want to be more cool, sexy and edgy and I think some brides need that little extra something for their wedding day.
