As the Royal Wedding gets ever closer, the question on everyone’s lips is – what will Meghan Markle wear? Which designer will she choose? What style will she go for? Will she look every inch a quintessential Royal bride or will she mix things up a little? Here at The Bridal Edit, we’ve been pondering the very questions. So, here are our thoughts on what we might see Meghan Markle wearing on 19th May…

MEGHAN MARKLE, WHAT WILL YOU WEAR?

OK, so let’s be honest, Meghan’s in a pretty great position right now. Not only has she bagged herself the rather gorgeous Prince, she’s also able to take her pick of designers. Who’s going to turn down the opportunity to dress a Royal bride?

That said, Meghan must be feeling the pressure a little bit. Every bride wants to look and feel fantastic but when you know your dress will be critiqued in detail, the decision about what to wear gets even tougher. Add in the facts that the guest list will definitely read like a who’s who of genuine A list stars and there are hundreds of years of Royal traditions to consider… Well, it’s pretty clear that when Meghan chooses her dress, she’s got a LOT to think about.

THE DESIGNERS

Now handily, Meghan has talked about her wedding dress dream list before. Back in March 2016, Glamour mag interviewed Meghan and with an eye on the future, asked her about her dream gown whilst talking about her character in Suits. We like your style Glamour!

So, which designers did Meghan pick out and what do we think she might wear? Read on…

Costarellos The Bridal Edit

This dreamy beauty is by Christos Costarellos, one of the designers that Meghan Markle mentioned in that Glamour mag piece. We’ve picked out this gown because it ticks lots of boxes. Firstly, that V- neck is on trend. Secondly, the Bishop sleeves bring a demure looks to the gown that works with the Royal vibe. And, thirdly, it’s just a bit different. If Meghan’s hankering after a romantic dress that still makes a statement, this could be it.

Next up, let’s swoon of this design from Elie Saab. Taken from the Spring 2018 collection, it’s got the simple beauty that would win Meghan lots of style brownie points. It would also look amazing accessorised with some jewellery from the Royal collection (hint hint!). We don’t imagine Meghan will rock up wearing the sunglasses but hey, you never know…

J. Mendel Bridal

Now the J. Mendel design above is a serious contender. Meghan has confessed her love for J. Mendel’s structural designs and this gown is pretty much everything. Beautifully fitted bodice, sleeves, flowing skirt that’s given some oomph with those pleats and oh, the lace.

MORE DESIGNER OPTIONS

Who else might have had the call about the dress of the year? Well, we know that Meghan Markle likes Ralph & Russo given that she wore a R&R outfit for her engagement photos. Would she choose the same designer again? If she’s looking for a huge statement dress like this one…

Ralph & Russo

If Meghan has decided to honour British designers then Jenny Packham could well be on her list. Seriously stylish, wonderfully made and  incredibly flattering, Jenny Packham is well known for creating memorable and amazing gowns. A bespoke Packham is something we’d love to see…

Oscar de la Renta is always an A-list favourite and with good reason – just take a look at the gown below! Oscar de la Renta dresses find that perfect spot between fashion and timeless beauty. We love their structure and the juxtaposition of fabrics and you just know Meghan will look amazing in a gown like this…

Lastly, let’s just talk about Emilia Wickstead. Another British designer, Emilia is known for her perfectly simple dresses that have the most immaculate cut. Meghan might want to show she’s made the jump from Hollywood glitz to Royal elegance and a gown like this would really do that…
